Prayer Meeting Revived!

I don't  know about you but last Sunday night i was convicted beyond believe.  I was in awe as the teens shared what they had done in Fort Worth on their missions trip.  I was also convicted as they talked about how they saw prayer in a whole new light.  I have been thinking about this idea of prayer and want us to rediscover the beauty of it.

So often prayer meetings morph into simply another service of some kind, not service to others but others to me.  We start with a song, we take an offering and then the pastor of someone else leads a devotion and then we spend the last ten    in prayer.  That is not a prayer meeting to me.  To me a prayer meeting is a time where we can come together for a specific time to pray for specific things together.  It is true that you can pray on your own for things and i am thankful for our prayer chain that takes up all the personal issues that arise in a week, such as sickness, and other special request.  But what about praying for our church as a whole?

I am going to challenge you to meet with me starting next week August 4 at 7:00 p.m. for focused time of prayer.  Everyone is invited.  We will pray specifically for our Encounter weekend coming up, for the building program, for the leadership of the church, and for your pastors (Scott Jeremy, and Sarah,)  We need to be as interested in the life of the church as we are in anything else.  We will not have music scheduled, we will not have a prepared message, we won't even have an offering.  Just prayer!  I want to challenge you to at least 30 minutes,   more if you want less if you must for these specific things.

However I want to see us do it together.  When we agree together in the name of the Lord He will give us what we request.  It is time to put into practice what we would all say in the most powerful thing we have available to us.  See You on  Wednesday Night.

In His Awesome Grip,

Pastor Scott
